42" magnavox plasma tv
Problem details
We are w/out any picture, only a black screen. Audio still works fine. The TV is only 15 mos. old. Happened while in the middle of watching a show, and never have had any problems prior. Not even the menu is visible.
Best solution
you need to replace the Y-main board the buffers are just that, the Y-main drives the upper and lower buffers, this Tv has a problem with the Ymain going out and trying to draw to much current from the power board causing the burning smell

ILO LCD Color HDTV does not change channels /...
Problem details
PROBLEM: Will not resond to change channel, volume, menu access.... neither from TV or remote. Just turns on and off. The channel it is set on work fine just can't adjust.
------
We had recently had cable installed and the tech ran the cable across the street too low. Apparently a vehicle drove by and snagged the wire, pulling it down the street until it snapped. This occured Sunday morning early...TV was fine Satruday night. BUT the problem has been noted ever since cable was reinstalled.....
MY QUESTION:
Is it possible, that when the wire was stretched to the point of poping, that it sent a surge through the cable that zapped the TV? I have the Cable co coming out to check it out...I need to know if there is any techincal logic behind my thinking here....

Hi. I also have that same problem. Seems like alot of people do. I beleive we need to get a Class action suit going. But in the mean time I can still use my TV by running my sound thru my surround sound DVD player and changing channels thru my Direct TV box. My husband also has his playstation 3 hooked up some how!! Unfortunatly I have one remote for sound one for just turning the TV off and on and the direct tv remote to change channels. It is a hassle but I can't afford to just though out 800.00. Hope this helps!

Tv shutting off

my tv is just keeps shutting off on it's own. the power and opc button is blinking. i can't get the tv to stay own. what is the problem?
Best solution
I contacted Sharp support and told that Power light blinks green twice per second. Immediately, the support person said he needs to order new Power supply which takes about 3 to 4 days. Couple of days later, Sharp support contractor replaced my TV's Power supply and it is now working fine.

ILO universal remote code
Problem details
There is no code for ILO TV in my universal remote code list. I went through the process of letting the remote do the searching and still no code to operate the TV with the universal cable remote.

All I can tell you guys for sure is that I just programmed my Scientific Atlantica cable box remote to control a newly purchased Ilo 27 in.TV with 0477 - that's an Emerson code and it seems to do on/off, volume, muting and even the on screen programming functions. Hope this helps someone.

Blinking Green Light on Mitsubishi DLP 52525
Problem details
I have had a Mitsubishi DLP 52525 for 2+ years now and recently the green timer light started to rapidly blink when the unit was turned on and it continued to blink without the picture coming on. After discconnecting the power and then using the system reset button, the problem remained. I swapped out the lamp and the tv worked for about a day and now the same problem is occurring. I have hit the system reset button but to no avail. There is nothing in the manual that deals with what is indicated by a constant blinking green timer led. Looking for suggestions.

I may have found it! For all of you with an AKAI, and it is shutting off on you, or won't turn on, try this. I decided to take the "small" panel off in the back (not the whole back). There is a small trigger that can be pushed back and forth - it gets pushed back when you put the panel back on (or it should). I found when I put the panel back on, the trigger wasn't getting pushed back all the way. You will notice that if you push the trigger in the whole way, and get another person to turn the tv on in the front, it should stay on, then let go, you will see that the tv will turn off. Basically all I did was tape this trigger so that it is all the way back, put the panel back on, and watch tv without the damn thing turning off! As well I did notice that there was a piece of black plastic left over that I can't seem to find where it goes - maybe it was part of the panel that pushed this trigger the whole way back - not sure. All I know is that the tv has not shut off yet - could it be that easy? Hopefully - good luck. I definitely will not go with AKAI again, will have to spend the extra dollar next time.

37" polaroid lcd tv won't turn on
Problem details
I've had the tv about a year. Yesterday the blue light would come on, but there was no picture. After turning the power off a couple of times it came on. Today it won't come on at all. Please help.

First, I am no tech, this is at your own risk! I have a flm-373b which is out of warranty 15mths. A nice paper weight. Plug it in, blue light, no picture or audio. So I got the service manual and started taking it apart. Pulled out the so called control box and at the top is what appears to be some sort of power inverter board. I looked closely and saw that there were 2 capacitors that looked damaged. One was bulged and the other looked like it had popped. They were side by side, green and marked 1000Uf 10v. I took the board to work with me and unsoldered the capacitors and very carefully replaced them with 1000Uf 16v caps. This was just a crazy chance. When I got home I put everything back together, ran 2 extension cords to the back porch and plugged it in. The tv came on faster than when it was brand new. Now I have waited 3 weeks to post this, just in case my house burned down, but the tv is still working great. Again this is at your own risk. Polaroid is not helpful and they want you to spend more money to correct their problem which will probably not correct anything. I really do wish you luck with this or with putting up with polaroids BS.

Runaround at Protron
Problem details
I've been getting the BS runaround from Protron since last May, 2007...same story...the ac adaptor is on back order call back in 14 days....I am going to report Protron to the attorney general in Virginia....They are a worthless company!

LCDPAYLESS is the way to go. I got them bid down to $105 plus shipping and the unit came in the mail in less than a week. It is made up of two power suplies, one is 12 volt and the other is 5 volt which are the correct rated voltages and amperage for the set. It not only works but solves the picture distortion problem when using full screen. The symptom of incorrrect voltage is that most people and things looked "fat" or "stretched out" on the sides (approx 1/4 of the picture area on each side of the picture). This must have been a sign that the original power supply was bad (incorrect or weak voltage rating) right from the very begining. The IC chips in the power supply units might have been of source material with poor tolerance to save money and slapped together quick to mass market to ShopNBC, then the problems got passed on to us the consumers. I noticed that ShopNBC does not carry this brand anymore, looks like they are trying to distance themselves. Where is Jim Peterson saying the sets would "last 25 years". I hate it that ShopNBC drones on and on with sales pitches with such fantastic claims. Class action might be the way to go. Protron might have known about the incorrect weak voltage problem but rushed it to market anyway. They may have put a quick one over on ShopNBC with the promo sets, need to look into this.

ILO LCD Color HDTV does not change channels
Problem details
I can't get the TV to respond to anything other than on/off. I have tried from the side buttons and from the remote. I can turn it on and off but no menu, +/-volumn,+/- channels, entering channels by numbers....none of the buttons on the remote do anything except the Power button.
It comes on and reads ANALOG TV as usual then identifies the Channel A 47 with the word Mono underneath.... It plays the channel just fine but that's it..... just that one channel.... Then last thing I recall having done was gone into the TV Menu and set the channels... Could I have screwed something up there? Is there a way to reset the thing back to factory defualts?
